"Egg" cellent Easter Treats

I'm going to be completely honest right now, I completely spaced the Photoshop Post for last Thursday. I had standardized testing for four days last week (super fun right :) and I was a little out of my normal routine. When I was going to sleep on Thursday night I was thinking about all the things I had to do: Practice piano, practice volleyball, make a few things on photoshop, prepare the Thursday post……. wait WHAT! So there's that story.

That also kind of explains my creative juices block as of late. I don't know why it's taken me so long to make these gifts.  I've had everything ready for to make them I just couldn't bring my self to think of a cute way of assembling it. Finally (yesterday) I forced myself to get them done. I told myself "I'm pretty sure my friends won't care if there cute, and there getting candy anyway". So I sat down with some tags, bags, eggs, and easter grass (not to mention cute ribbon and string) and got to work.

I'm actually really excited with the way these turned out. Nothing some bakers twine can't fix, right?  I even made a super cute printable tag to go with it.

HERE'S HOW I ASSEMBLED THESE BAGS:

MATERIALS:

• Wilton Rectangle Gift Bags (You don't HAVE to use this kind, but I think there the perfect size)
• Green Easter grass 
• Easter eggs 
• Candy (to fill the eggs)
• Ribbon and twine 
• These tags
• Hole punch 

STEPS:

1. First fill all the eggs with candy, and eat whatever is left over (my favorite part ;) 
2. Open one of the clear bags and fill it with a handful of easter grass. A LOT off it
3. Drop three candy filled eggs into the  bag, so it's onto of the easter grass
4. Tie the bag closed with a piece of bakers twine, or whatever you want to use 
5. Tie a piece of ribbon onto the bag where the twine is (preferably sparkly ribbon :)
6. Cut out one the tags and punch a hole in the top left corner, thread some more twine thorough it  ( I used hot pink and dark blue)  and tie it onto the bag)

Cookie Dough Truffle Eggs

Yes, if you've been following along for a while you know of my love for cookie dough, and recipes involving it. I honestly didn't even realize I was going to be posting something with cookie dough until I started editing the pictures (I know, I'm awesome). So for those of you who don't like cookie dough, I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist NOT sharing these.

Don't they just look delicious, and they are in egg shapes too, just in time for Easter. Another great thing is the cookie dough inside is eggless, so you don't have to worry about eating raw egg. :)

I mean, just the outside looks delicious, but imagine everyones surprise when there is COOKIE DOUGH inside, I think it makes it 100 times better. 

Ok so here's the recipe:

INGREDIENTS: 

• 1/2 a cup of butter (softened)
• 3/4 cup of brown sugar (packed)
• 2 cups of flour 
• 2tsp vanilla 
• 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk 
• 1 cup of chocolate chips 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cream butter and brown sugar in an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about two minutes) and add in vanilla. 
2. Slowly add in the two cups of flour
3. While the mixer is still running slowly add in the can of sweetened condensed milk 
4. once every things combined add in the chocolate chips
5. scoop out the dough and form it not on inch ovals/eggs. Place on wax paper and refrigerate over night.
6. Melt the chocolate and dip the cookie dough in it. Let it harden.

SUPER CUTE (and printable) Easter Banner

I'm just loving this whole spring thing! I always love spring, but this year winter seems like it's lasting longer than usual. The bright colors make me so happy and I just want to put them every where. I was thinking about the other spring decor I need, and realized that I don't have a banner! Crazy, right! So I made one.

This banner is deferent from the other banners I've made because this banner is all part of a printable. So you won't need anything besides the pages. I've even included printable string! JUST KIDDING (thought you lost me there didn't you)! You are going to need some string or ribbon or whatever your heart desires.

For my banner I used ribbon and the letters, but I also made another banner for my room without all the ribbons and accessories and it's still super cute!

So let's talk about how to make it.


FLAGS:
-print out this sheet. If you want a bigger banner, your going to want to print out more of these sheets. I used two pages of the sheet's for my banner and I really like the length.
- cut out the flags
- punch two holes in the top two corners of the flag with a hole puncher.



PAPER LOLLIES:
- print out this sheet (you need two rectangles for every lolly)
- cut out the rectangles and fold them accordion style.
- hot glue one of the short sides of two of the accordion style rectangles together
- hot glue the other shot edges together so it forms a circle
- press down the circle so the edges on the top come together. put some hot glue in the center of the lolly so it stays pushed down.

WORDS:
- print out this sheet
- punch out the words with a punch
- glue the letters onto the lolly's
-glue the lolly's onto six of the flags

ASSEMBLY:
- put the string through the holes of the each of the flags and put a strip of tape on the back so it stays in place (make sure the flags that spell out "easter" are in the center)
- (optional) tie on a piece of ribbon/string/washi tape in between each flag.


-Hang up!

Spring Subway Art Sign

I think spring is here to stay, especially since we've been having 90 degree weather where I live. I love spring it's a time of change and news beginnings, and everything is so beautiful, alive, and in bloom (well my allergies don't love that so much :). I've been itching to make something spring inspired and this happy sign filled that itch.

I have had this piece of plywood in my room for months, begging to be used. this was definitely the project for that wood, I especially love the look of the bare wood with the colorful words across it. it's kind of hard to read the words in the picture, so here's the file.

I wasn't sure if I would like the turn out, but I have to say, I love it. 

Materials:

- piece of plywood 8.5x11" 

- acrylic paint 

- stencil 

- transfer tape
- vinyl
- inking sponge

Steps:

1. cut out this file on vinyl on your silhouette. (more on that here)
2. peel off the letters of the vinyl so it creates a stencil 
3. lay transfer tape on the vinyl stencil and transfer the stencil onto your piece of plywood 
4. take the transfer tape off the stencil but leave the stencil on the wood 
5. Apply paint to the holes in the vinyl where the letters were 
6. take off the stencil and let the sign dry 
7. take and inking sponge and put some of the acrylic paint on it. then rub it on the edges of the sign

Bunny Bait Treat

Remember this post when I said I would be featuring the bunny bait tags later in the week. Well it's not later in the week, but it's better then nothing. So today I'm going to show you how to make a cute little treat to go with your tags.

Loopy Flower (tutorial)

Lately I have been slightly obsessed with hair accessories. I know, but there just so fun to make. This hair clip that I'm going to share is really easy and probably takes about 15 minutes. They are perfect for little girls and older girls (like me:). They are also very forgiving flowers, so it's almost impossible to mess them up.

Get:
-3"x12" piece of felt
-hot glue and gun
-sewing machine
-scissors
-pins (optional)
-clip (optional)

DO:
-fold your piece of felt in 1/2 (hot dog style) and pin it. But if your a "non" pinner, you can just fold it and sew it together.
-sew the ends together
-cut 1/4 snips all the way down
-roll it up like your making a cinnamon roll (make sure to glue so it doesn't unravel).
-OPTIONAL:
 add a little circle of felt to hide the ugly mess of glue in the bottom
-add a clip or pin or something
-LOVE it
