Chalkboard Mug Christmas Present

Happy {almost} Christmas everyone!! I hope you are enjoying this season as much as I am. Today I wanted to share this cheap little gift I made for some of my friends who I exchange gifts with every year. I think it cost me $4 bucks for each gift. Pretty great right? Ok I'll stop blabbing and show you some pictures of what it looks like.

Yep, they're CHALKBOARD mugs. I seem to be having a christmas chalkboard addiction. So here's the story: A few months ago in Pinterest land (that's an addiction for another time ;)) I found some super cute chalkboard mugs. I thought they were the cutest things. So I decided to try them out, well the tutorial I found on Pinterest used porcelain chalkboard paint, which is pretty pricy. I decided to try the mugs with normal paint and they seem to be doing quite well after use. the only thing you need to remember is NOT TO PUT THEM IN THE DISH WASHER. 

   

They are actually very simple to make. 

supplies: 

- mug ( I found mine at the 99 cents store)

- primer

- chalkboard paint (I used Martha Stuart brand)

-chalk 

-painters tape

Steps:

1) tape about 3/4 of the way from the bottom of your mug.

2) Paint the bottom part of your mug with primer (This helps the paint stick and makes it easier to write on) and allow it to try.

3) Keep the tape from priming on and paint two coats of chalkboard paint on the primed surface. 

4) let your mug dry for 24 hours. Once its dry dust the surface with chalk. 

5) If you're giving these as gifts, add a bag of hot cocoa to the bottom of the bag and make these to stick in the top. Then wrap it in cellophane and tie the top with one of these tags and a piece of chalk. That's it!!

Hot Cocoa Stirrers

I've been wanting to try these out for a while. What exactly am I talking about? These Incredible hot cocoa stirrers. I can tell you from personal experience that they make your hot chocolate taste AMAZING!!!!

 

There totally easy too. 

Here's the tutorial for the stirrer sticks:

supplies:

- big marshmallows

- chocolate chips 

- crushed candy cane

- lollipop sticks 

steps:

1) Put your chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and melt them 

2) take one of your lollipop sticks and dip it into the melted chocolate, then stick it into the bottom of your marshmallow. This helps the stick stay in your marshmallow.

3) Then once the chocolate on your stick has hardened dip the top of the marshmallow into the chocolate  and sprinkle it with pieces of candy cane. 

4) Put it in the fridge to harden. 

5) Stir into hot cocoa.

Snowball Necklaces

I few months ago I bought some bead caps and marbles for making necklaces for halloween and [typical me] NEVER got around to making it. So the supplies have been sitting in my closet ever since. I decided I really wanted to make something with my forgotten necklace supplies. I thought a lot about what I could make…… and then the perfect idea dawned on me:

Snowball Necklaces!!!

They turned out really cute, and there not to hard to make either. 

So these are basically a marble painted white, coated with white sparkles, and topped with a bead cap. I also added a fun little tag onto the string that says "Let it Snow",  just to make it a little more fun. 

And how cute would these be for a Christmas gift, or a craft night? The possibilities are endless, so grab your supplies and start creating!!

You will need:

-marbles (any color will work)

-white paint ( for covering the marbles, if you have white marbles you can skip this)

-modge podge 

-iridescent glitter

-foam brush

-e-6000

-bead cap 

-eye pins 

-jump ring

- twine 

-let it snow tag (here)

directions:

1. (skip this step if your marbles are already white) Pour your white paint into a disposable cup and roll your marble around in it until it's fully coated. 

2. In another disposable cup mix your modge podge and glitter.  Coat the marbles with this after they dry. 

3. Once the modge podge has dried, you're going to make your bead cap. Take one bead cap and one eye pin. and put the loop that's already in the eye pin through the top of the bead cap.
4. Now flip the bead cap over and trim about half of the remaining wire. Take the remaining wire and fold it or loop it so the eye pin states in the bead cap.

5. Glue the bead cap onto the top of the marble with some E6000 glue and allow it to dry.
6. Once it's dry attach a jump ring to the loop in the eye pin. also attach a jump ring to your let it snow tag  (found here). For the tag I just printed a whole sheet of them out on card stock so it will hold up more and not rip off.
7. Slide the marble and tag onto a strand of twine and tie it off with a bow.
8. ENJOY!!!

Mini white boards (tutorial)

for Christmas I made my friends mini white boards to hand out at my gift exchange. here's how to make them.

BUY:
- picture frame (I got mine at the dollar store)
-dry erase markers
-mini ornaments
-ribbon/tule

DO:
-make a paper with what you want it to stay and print it out
-cut down the paper and put it in the frame
- hot glue on two mini ornaments
-tie in a dry erase marker with ribbon

Wreath Ornaments

As most of you know each year I do a Treat trade. This year I was in desperate need of a craft to make , so I found an adorable tutorial for mini yarn wreaths using shower curtain hooks (genius!!!). The only twist, I used 
bakers twine I found the tutorial here.

Snowflakes..

Do you live in AZ like me? well now you can have your own white Christmas right inside your house.
you want to know how to make these:

1. fold the paper into a triangle and cut off the bottom.

2. now it's a triangle, don't open it up, keep it folded

 3.from each side measure 5 1/2" and make a mark, do the same on the other side 

 4. now from the mark make two strait lines to the top

 5. now your going to make a mark every inch and a half ( there will be three marks on each side)

6. now make lines from the inch and a half so it's parallel to the top, do it on both sides

7.cut on the lines to the center on both sides

8. open the triangle. take the two smallest triangles and tape them together 

9. then flip it and do the other one then flip it again and again until your finished
10. repeat the steps above 5 times



11. take all the papers so that the smallest circle is on top staple the middle and the sides so that the papers are together. 

Paper Lollies

Has it really been that long since I updated? Well I will be nice to you and update every day with a new craft. Well I'm going to start out the week with these fun paper Lollies.

1. Start with 2 strips of paper size 12"x 1" ( you can go up to 2 and a half inches wide depending how big you want it.)

 

2. Now fold them. 

 3. Now you have both of them folded .

 4. Now hot glue the ends together, so it makes a big circle.

 5. Now push the end's down till it looks like the pic above. Then hot glue the center. 

6. Punch out a coordinating paper circle and stick it on the hot glue when it's drying.

7. Put some more hot glue on the back of the lolly and put a dowel on it.

8. TA- DA!!! ( my first couple got messed up, but just stick to it.
